It Takes a Village (to Make a Family)

Seven years ago, Matt and I (Saira) found each other and built a life rooted in creativity, kindness, and a whole lot of love. It was never a secret that Matt had a vasectomy during a previous marriage. We always believed that if parenthood called to us, we’d find a way forward. In the past few years, that call has grown stronger, and now the time has come to cross that bridge together.

In December 2024, Matt underwent a vasectomy reversal surgery, and we were hopeful. At first, the results seemed promising. But over time, we learned that internal scar tissue was creating a blockage, and by November 2025, we were back to square one. It has been incredibly frustrating to hear, time and again, that vasectomies are “easily reversible”—our experience has shown us just how complicated (and sometimes irreversible) that process can be.

Recently, Matt underwent a sperm extraction (TESE) procedure, which was thankfully very successful. This gives us a real path forward—and now, I (Saira) will be undergoing the IVF process.

As two self-employed business owners, we don’t have access to group insurance plans that cover infertility care, which means nearly everything in this process is out-of-pocket, and the costs are adding up quickly. While this path is physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually demanding, we are incredibly grateful to finally be moving forward.

We know the economic climate is hard and that everyone is stretched. We are deeply grateful for any support—financial or emotional—that our tribe can offer. We are so lucky to have a strong and loving community in Buffalo and around the world, and we are leaning in and asking for help.

It truly takes a village to make a family. And when this works (because we are manifesting that energy ✨), every single one of you will be invited to the most joyful, fun, and love-filled baby shower imaginable.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for surrounding us with hope and support!
