It Takes a Village: IVF Journey to Baby Greene
Donation protected
This is both terrifying and humbling for us to share, especially so publicly…but after four years of trying to grow our family, we are excited to share that we are going to go the IVF route to bring home Baby Greene!
The past four years in our infertility journey have been difficult, to say the least. At the end of 2020, it felt like all hope had been shattered and we’d lost our dreams of a future family. At the end of 2021, we were humbled to receive a grant from the Bundle of Joy Fund. In the past year, we’ve experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. There was surgery. There were hospital visits. There was waiting. And more waiting. There were more tests and procedures performed. There were enough tears to fill an ocean (or so it seemed).
At the end of June, we were ONE week away from being in the “safe zone” to share the most exciting news of all – we were FINALLY pregnant! And then the worst month of our lives happened. We lost our sweet baby, Josie Rae, in July and it wrecked our world. Now, here we are, the week of Josie Rae’s due date and it’s hard. So many firsts that we’ll never experience with that sweet baby.
BUT, it also feels fitting that we’ve made the decision to move forward with IVF…and we are believing this is how we’ll bring home our rainbow baby. While we were blown away by the grant we received from the Bundle of Joy Fund, we will still owe quite a bit out of pocket. The grant covers pre-cycle monitoring and lab work, hormone monitoring, ultrasounds, egg retrieval, embryology services, and embryo transfer. That’s where the money runs out. We will still need to pay for IVF medications, anesthesia, embryo storage, embryo testing, and more…and all out of pocket because it’s not covered by insurance.
We would love, first and foremost, your prayers. We recently came across a blog post on why we ask others to pray. It’s not because they’re so much more well-spoken. It’s not because God hears them more. It’s not because we think our voice alone isn’t enough to reach Him. We know it’s because the burden is too heavy to carry alone. We want to know that someone is standing beside us in our struggle because two are better than one. Prayer connects us. It unites us. It awakens us to the needs of others and helps us to realize that we were made for one another. So we covet your prayers.
We would also love any monetary gift you might be able to give in helping us on this crazy-expensive journey to bring home Baby Greene. We are praying big and believing even bigger. We believe God will continue to show his faithfulness along this journey, through the support of our community.
As educators, we spend our days partnering with parents to help raise their children and mold their lives. Our greatest desire is the chance to do the same with a child of our own. We know the road ahead will be anything but easy, but we are full of hope! Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support!
Love,
