It takes a village - helping Trisha through cancer

Donation protected
When we all think of Trisha Haapoja we think of strength. We think of motherhood. We think friend, confedont, and we think love. One thing that is never doubted is how Trisha puts her children Lillian and Oliver before anything else as her family is her complete world. She is a beautiful example of motherhood regardless of the situation life is handing.

In life, in takes a village. A village to nurture each other, help each other in times of triumph and in times of pain or uncertainty. As we are all one community in the journey of life. With that, Trisha needs a village more than ever. I am praying that each of us will come together to show Trisha she is loved, she has the support of all of us.

As many know, Trisha has metastatic breast cancer, diagnosed three years ago. She also is a survivor of Leukemia at the age of 4. While Trisha has been on several types of medications, the cancer has suddenly become more active, spreading, new lesions, new fractures, spots in her lungs, and the grave list goes on. It is hard to even process all this going on in a body that outwardly appears so incredibly strong.  Trisha is a fighter, if you know her, strength is one thing that is evident. Her strength is such that cannot be dismissed.

Last summer, Trisha’s symptoms and side effects from treatment resulted in her doctor refusing to sign her return to work papers. He was concerned that things were not working and that she would have to move to another treatment.

Trisha has been a highly respected Pediatrics Nurse Practioner for Children’s Hospital and has not been able to return, being terminated due to being on long-term disability too long. That being said, her family’s medical insurance would convert to a $2,500 a month Cobra payment on June 1, 2019.

Despite Trisha’s efforts of being proactive and doing everything possible to ensure coverage would change seamlessly, as needed for ongoing treatment, she just learned on May 31 that the system showed their family would not have any coverage June 1. This is days before she requires a new biopsies and change in medications that cost thousands of dollars.

While fighting this battle, let’s come together and help her alleviate the stress of finances. Let’s let her focus on healing her body, enjoying a summer with her two beautiful children, and remind her that we TOGETHER are her village. A village founded on love and of hope.

These finances will be available directly to Trisha, we have simply created a spot where we can all donate to an amazing woman that needs us right this moment.

Please donate - and lets all let Trisha not have this one stress in all of this.
