My name is Mari, I am 40 years young.  7 months ago, I was given 6-8 months to live. Not long ago I was living my best life and married the love of my life.  I decided to go on vacation to Mexico where I was able to spend time with my family. It wasn’t long before I noticed a hard bump and thought our family was about to grow.  After several negative pregnancy tests, an ultrasound was recommended, it was then that the tumors were first seen.  I was asked to see an obgyn and ended up having to see an oncologist. I have ovarian cancer.  Friends and family convinced me to stay and receive treatment there so I did because I needed my family to get through this. On Jan 15, 2020 I went into surgery to have tumors removed, unfortunately tumors are leaning against my organs and surgeon was not willing to take the risk so they stitched me back up and two months later I started chemo, treatments only got stronger and stronger, but in September of 2020 my oncologist tells me that there isn’t more she can do and gave me 6-8 months to live. During my chemo my husband abandoned me because it was too much for him to handle, the pain I live with is unbearable, I don’t recognize my own body, but my spirit is not broken. With my family’s help I was able to return back home, I am back in Texas and will be going to MD Anderson in Houston. I refuse to believe that nothing else can be done for me.  Others have given up on me and on my life, I will not. In my initial contact with MD Anderson, I was told I needed a deposit of $18,000!! I am hopeful that there will be programs that can assist somebody like me, somebody in my condition, somebody willing to try anything. I ask that you please donate what you can to help me get there to get the help I need. I also ask for your prayers for the road ahead, it has not been easy but it’s a road worth staying on. It is not my time yet.
