Help Natasha as she begins her recovery from a rare neurological disorder - Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS).
Early last week, after recovering from a relatively mild case of COVID-19, Natasha started to feel unwell. She suffered terrible headaches and back pain that radiated out to her limbs. She visited the ER twice, and each time was provided some pain management medications, but doctors had no diagnosis. Then late last week, overwhelmed with unbearable pain, Natasha was admitted to the hospital. After many tests, the doctors provided a diagnosis - Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
Guillain-Barré Syndrome is an inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. GBS is characterized by the rapid onset of numbness, weakness, and often paralysis of the legs, arms, breathing, muscles, and face, along with excruciating nerve pain that burns throughout the entire body.
If you know Natasha, you know she is the most positive and caring person. While GBS has (temporarily) caused the loss of feeling and motion in many parts of her body, there is one thing GBS has not taken from her - her unwavering passion for making a full recovery.
It is hard to comprehend that in a blink of an eye, for no known reason, “normal” things we take for granted every day are a challenge to perform. Recovery from GBS will require Natasha to retrain her body and brain to master them once again.
Natasha’s road to recovery will be a long one: likely 6 to 12 months. The recovery process will be very grueling and will require extensive physical and occupational therapy so that Natasha can get back to activities we take for granted – walking, yoga, playing with her boys.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated if you would like to help Natasha’s family with their financial burden. All funds raised will go directly to Natasha’s medical costs and related expenses for Trevor and the boys.
I am reaching out to all of Natasha’s friends, our fantastic community, and anyone who can help, even just a little bit to support Natasha and her family through this challenging time.
Thank you in advance for any contributions! Stay Strong, Tash – We love you!
