Isabelle’s Great North Run 2024 for Dementia UK
I am running for Dementia UK, who are a charity that support and protect people and families who suffer from dementia. Dementia is the most common condition that I have came across through my education as a student nurse. It is deeply upsetting to hear that many families and patients struggle with this condition alone and with little help. Dementia UK don’t only educate the public on Dementia, but their Admiral Nurses provide life-changing support and advice to those affected. In an effort to raise both awareness and funds, I have committed to running the Great North Run—a marathon that symbolizes the endurance and achievements that many have to face. This fundraising initiative seeks to provide essential resources, care, and hope to those affected by dementia, fostering a community of empathy and understanding. Together, as we tackle both the physical and emotional challenges, we can make difference in the lives of those navigating the complexities of dementia. I am running on behalf of all the patients I have cared and supported for, and the future patients I am yet to meet, to ensure they receive the most attention and care possible. Your contribution will not only propel me forward, but will propel us towards a future where dementia patients receive the collective strength from communities. With your help, no one will have to face dementia alone.
