Israel Hurst services and ongoing family expenses

The world lost an incredible person yesterday, and will forever be a lonelier and less vibrant place because of that.
Israel “Izzy” Hurst has left us to be with Bruce, Kurt, and the rest of his family in lasting paradise.
I write this with a heavy heart. This was so unexpected. My brother and his family unfortunately do not have insurance. All the expenses for his memorial are coming out of pocket. Due to the Covid19, work has been hard to come by. We are hoping to raise enough money to help his wife Lisa, and kids with funeral, and everyday costs. Even a dollar is greatly appreciated.
There will not be another character in this world like Izzy. He is a great many things to a great many people. He is both a mentor and a student (of more diverse subjects than can be listed here), a coach, a motivator, a badass, a negotiator, an entrepreneur, an extraordinary father and husband, and a litany of many other titles he wore with vibrance and honor.
He is very likely the most passionate person you would ever meet, one conversation about an important subject and you can feel the intensity that he brings to everything he does. Once he finds a worthy pursuit he is not only “both feet in” but diving headfirst for total emersion. Moreover, he would emphatically encourage those around him to benefit from his newfound discoveries. And if you were adventurous enough to follow his lead (as risky as it sometimes felt/was) you more often were glad he pulled you out of your comfort zone. He is often an early adopter of new ideas (or rediscovered ancient ones) and never shies from making his own statement regardless of its popularity. (anyone remember the toe shoes?).
His passion for JKD and martial arts is an integral component of his life and philosophy. It began early and if you knew his haircut back then it was obvious that Bruce Lee helped fuel this interest. This passion continues to contribute to all aspects of his life and as his kids get older he is giving them this gift as well.
An unrelenting resource of positive energy. He has been through many trials and circumstances that could defeat the spirit of anyone else and every time you would talk to him during these times he was undeterred from his vision of his future. He creates his reality through his remarkable ability to reject negative energy and change his situation for the better by sheer force of will and positivity.
Izzy began fatherhood with the same curiosity and excitement that he brought to any new frontier he found himself in. His joy grew with Lisa's belly as did his passion for raising his children with his unique calculated style. As Madalyn grew and they added Liam and Enme
n to their tribe Izzy's desire for more children expanded. He is a remarkable and nurturing caregiver teaching his children how to be the best people they can be through his no-nonsense and gentle way. He loves his family deeper than anything else he endeared in his life.
So many of us rely upon his unique perspective to enhance and complement our lives in order to have a richer understanding of ourselves and the environment around us. He is a connector of people and of ideas. He is a wealth of information about so many things and an inspiration to so many people in so many areas spanning across the country and the decades.
He draws upon insights from eastern philosophy and Bruce Lee, Christianity, quantum physics, nutrition, fitness, martial arts, music, and too many others to list. You can rely on Izzy to tell you when you are messing up but you can also always rely on him to build you up and give you the motivation you need to put his plan to work. He has a wonderful ability to enhance your self-esteem, to point out and bring to the forefront all the good qualities that make you special. He can introduce or remind you of your flaws and turn that into inspiration for positive change rather than discouragement.
He can enter a conflicted situation and dispel the tension by bringing people together through logic and common ground. He is a remarkable thinker with the rare ability to reexamine his long-held ideas and refine his stance as he learns new information and understands things from new perspectives.
To say Izzy is an enigma would be an understatement. He is both eccentric and humble, Excessive and simple, powerful and gentle, frustrating and calming, combative and loving. He is sometimes a source of consternation for his loved ones, but also a remarkable source of compassion and steadfast loyalty.
Isy leaves behind a wife, 3 kids, his mother, father, brother, sister, and countless people, who will hurt indefinitely with this devastating loss. We choose to celebrate this remarkable man. That’s the way he would have wanted it. He would not have wanted anyone moping around. He would want us to cheer his memory, and take a little bit of his fearless personality as our own.
Thank you all for your support, love, and prayers. It is all greatly appreciated. We will be leaving this up beyond the target goal as long as Lisa and the kids are in need. This is an extremely tough hurdle for them all and will likely take some time for them to find there way without their captain, patriarch, leader, provider... their whole world.
Through this difficult transition there will be many other ways aside from money to help them so we encourage you to think about these as well (employment leads, child care, household items, groceries... we encourage you to contact Lisa as the weeks progress to see what may be the most help at that time.
