Half marathon ski for spinal research
Some of you may be familiar with my story. Just over two years ago my life changed in an instant when I hit my head after diving into a pool, which caused traumatic spinal-cord injury. This left me with a huge mental and physical challenge. I still have no use of my lower body and only partial use of my arms and minimal use of my hands. It creates enormous day-to-day challenges and requires a positive mindset and determination in order to push yourself to make improvements!
During the midst of this Coronavirus pandemic, I’ve decided to make the most of this time and help to raise money for a very worthwhile cause, to help change the lives of millions of people through finding a cure for paralysis!
All of the donations from this fundraising activity will go directly to the Perry cross spinal research foundation. They are searching for a cure to paralysis for everybody. They are getting closer and closer to this reality and only need some financial support to help The team of researchers at Griffith University begin a trial that has pursued extremely positive results that could potentially Reverse the effects of paralysis!!
I have been training with my coach (BAS Health and Fitness) for the last two months and I am going to put my fitness and strength improvements to the test by using a Concept 2 Ski-Erg To complete a solo half marathon on the 7th June, it is going to be a huge effort for me to complete that distance furthest I’ve moved with my own body since my injury! It is going to take roughly 5 hours to complete and also a really good cause!
I speak on behalf of everybody living with some level of paralysis want to say that everyone is so thankful and grateful for any contribution towards finding a cure for paralysis!
