Islamic Society - Ramadan Iftar

Asalamu Alaykum dear brothers and sisters.

With immense joy and gratitude to Allah (SWT), we at Aston Islamic Society (ISoc) are delighted to announce that we will be hosting Iftar during the blessed month in the Aston SU building for Aston students and staff.

We kindly seek the support of the Aston University community to help to fund the Iftar. Through your generous support, we aim to create a warm, welcoming environment where the Aston University community can break their fast together, strengthen community bonds, and experience the true spirit of Ramadan. Your contribution will help to provide nutritious meals, dates, and refreshments for our fasting students, ensuring they have a proper meal to break their fast.

Every contribution will help us achieve our goal of supporting our Muslim students during Ramadan. Remember, charity does not decrease wealth. As Allah (SWT) states in the Quran: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.” (2:261)

We humbly request your assistance in fundraising for this initiative and to share in its abundant reward. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasised the virtue of feeding those who are fasting, saying:

"Whoever helps a fasting person to break their fast, they will have the same reward as the fasting person, without any decrease in the reward of the fasting person" (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 807).

In addition, we would also like to appeal for funds to support the future activity of the Aston ISoc. The Aston ISoc is essential in providing a platform for our Muslim students to come together for prayer (we host Jummah prayer weekly), social events, educational events and other beneficial activities. Any remaining funds from the Iftar fundraising will be allocated to maintaining and improving these vital ISoc activities.

We pray that Allah multiplies your rewards, accepts your generous contributions, and grants you success in both this world and the hereafter. May he make this a means of gaining his pleasure and attaining paradise.
