SUPPORT A UNIQUELY CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC INSTITUTE. Help to nurture community cohesion, educate adults and mould our youth into confident, upstanding Muslims in 21st century Britain.
IslamHood is a non-profit organisation based in the West of London in Slough, Berkshire, primarily funded by generous donations. It is managed by a hardworking team of immensely dedicated individuals who work tirelessly around the clock fee sabillilah (for the sake of God). IslamHood has been established since 2013 with the educational institute opening its doors in 2016.
Currently, IslamHood is comprised of 5 distinct branches:
- Department of Islamic Sciences Unlocked - the educational institute for adults
- Youth Tarbiya Weekend School - the supplementary school for under-18s
- Community projects
- Social activities for both adults and children
- Hosting renowned keynote lecturers at conferences and talks, showcasing international and local guest speakers and scholars.
ISLAMIC SCIENCES UNLOCKED - over 250 students in 2 years!
Our Islamic courses are expertly designed with the needs of a part-time student in mind. Crafted by esteemed scholars and their full-time students, our wide range of courses are the ideal way to study traditional Islamic subjects such as Tajweed, Arabic, Tafseer & Seerah amongst others, within a contemporary setting. With the expansion of our admin team, we are now always able to keep our application process open for new intakes throughout the year and are able to offer expert guidance so that prospective students of the deen are able to make the right choice on which subject to study.
Whilst the courses are currently running on a part-time basis, we aim to establish a full-time Islamic educational establishment in the upcoming years - we aspire to maintain the impeccable standards and traditional learning methods with classical sources but with a key focus on contextualizing learning and adapting to modern-day requirements.
YOUTH TARBIYA WEEKEND SCHOOL - first year's intake sold out in weeks!
An expertly crafted Islamic curriculum for 7-18 year olds. This is a truly unique syllabus with a special emphasis on character development. We aim to mould and nurture our youth in every way, equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of key Islamic subjects, as well as a wider appreciation for other aspects of the Deen, such as the importance of community work, financial interactions and our rich Islamic heritage and culture to name but a few.
After much demand, we opened the highly anticipated Youth School in 2017 with a waiting list currently in place - the second cohort of pupils are due to start in Sep 2018. Parents love the contextualized curriculum relevant to young Muslims growing up in the UK to equip them with a proud Islamic identity.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS - helping the wider community & humanitarian relief work
From coordinating weekly visits to the local elderly care home and initiatives to help the homeless, to organising charity dinners for humanitarian causes and exciting family fun days, we are always seeking opportunities to aid community cohesion and actively take steps to address the problems we are facing in society at large.
Innovative projects such as the Umrah Come True Challenge 2017 was met with huge support from the community - aiming to make people from 3rd world countries achieve their lifelong dream of performing Umrah, a feat which they would never have imagined to complete on their own. With the grace of Allah and the overwhelming support of the community, we smashed our initial target of fundraising for 3 people in just 20 days. By the end of the month, we had more than doubled our target and managed to support 6 impoverished people to go to the house of Allah.
The Love Our Elderly campaign, in which we assemble a group of volunteers for visits to Slough’s care homes, continue on a weekly basis. Our Forgotten Neighbours is our newest project - our attempt to battle homelessness, a growing pandemic in the UK.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES - encouraging "halal fun" for young & old!
We have organised many social outings such as retreats, laser combat, football tournaments, go-karting, ice skating, trampolining, rock climbing, fencing and more, with the aim of advocating "halal fun".
Footy With The Akhis has been running very successfully every week since summer 2017, for both adults and children. These community football sessions serve as a halal Friday night out! With consistently strong turnouts each week, we aim to connect brothers in Slough and the surrounding areas, as well getting the youth active and involved in the community.
We aim to provide a platform for the youth in particular to express their concerns and also spend their time in an effective, productive and, most importantly, exciting way! The 'sisters-only' activities offer women the opportunity to meet and socialise in a positive, halal, enthusiastic environment, as well as providing great family activities enjoyed by all ages.
EVENTS, TALKS & MORE - prestigious guest speakers at live events and online
Exclusive 1-day courses, conferences and lectures with renowned guest speakers - each one bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and illuminating the audiences in attendance.
In addition to this, we are able to bring you the knowledge and inspiration that you can expect from our courses and lectures, in the comfort of your own home. This is via IslamHood Live - utilising Facebook’s live streaming capabilities, we have introduced several new series delivered by respected guest speakers.
WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
We purposefully keep our course and school fees as low as possible to ensure Islamic education remains accessible to all. We keep our events completely free to attend and we heavily subsidise social activities because it's important to us that men, women & children be able to keep in touch with their Islamic identity, in whatever capacity that may be. Alhamdullilah, through Allah's permission and mercy, we've impacted thousands of Muslims and non-Muslims in the local and wider community.
We still need you. IslamHood has achieved more than anyone thought possible and we're just getting started. There's a huge number of projects we plan to see through in the next 1-2 years. Projects that will directly impact you, your children and your community for years to come.
HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
IslamHood is run by a small but passionate team of individuals, men and women, who often work very late nights and very early mornings - prioritizing IslamHood over all other life commitments. Nobody in the organisation is paid a single penny, apart from course teachers. 100% of donations will be used in fuelling organisational growth - whether that is through subsidising student fees and ensuring we never turn anyone who wishes to study the Deen away to allowing us to effectively plan and organise annual conferences with world-renowned speakers.
BENEFIT FROM ETERNAL SADAQAH JARIYAH
"When a man passes away, his good deeds will also come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)" Narrated by Abu Hurairah, Sahih Muslim
