Hi Friends and Family, I am raising funds for Becky’s baby Isla. This week Isla went from a little girl swinging in the park to on a Vent in Pediatric ICU. It’s the story we’ve all heard but pray it won’t happen to us. This week Isla ate a small battery and nobody knew. She developed mild flu like symptoms at first. She was still drinking and seemed in good spirits. Her parents noticed she was spitting a lot. Her mom, Becky, is a nurse, and knew that was not normal so she took her to urgent care. Urgent care also thought that it was just a virus, but Becky insisted on an XRay. As soon as she saw the scan, Becky rushed her baby to the Hospital. Isla needed emergency surgery. Since surgery, Isla has been placed on a vent and has had multiple complications maintaining her 02. Doctors have had to paralyze the one year old and closely monitor her for the time being.
We hope Islas swelling goes down soon and they can take Isla off the vent. When they remove the vent, she will need a feeding tube until her esophagus heals and they can slowly introduce foods again. Isla will need medical care for months to come.
Isla came into this world early and fighting, so we have no doubt she will fight thru this.
Please consider donating to help Becky and family focus on helping Isla recover without the worry of how they will pay the bills during this time. Becky is a contingent nurse so that she can flexibly raise her 5 kids. Sadly, that does not include FMLA benefits. Your donation will go towards medical bills and maintaining expenses while the family tries to figure out how to help Isla on her journey.
