Isla Johnson

Hi my name is Tam, me my daughter Lilli, nieces Ruby and Heidi (Isla’s close friends) and sister Camille, along with some more close friends are raising money for Isla!

Isla is such a beautiful intelligent young lady that doesn't deserve to be going through what she is. Her lovely smile brightens every room and we want to keep that smile going helping however we can.

Isla is 14 years old and has a life limiting illness which has left unable to eat or drink - she is fed intravenously 18 hours a day through a central line through a line directly to the main artery next to her heart.

Her whole digestive system put simply is paralysed- she no longer has a large bowel as this caused her lots of pain and bouts of sepsis, she has been left with an ileostomy. Unfortunately Islas illness does not have a cure and not eating and drinking as the body should puts pressure on her other organs. She has liver failure and calcification of her kidneys.

Last May she got really sick and was rushed to paediatric intensive care on a ventilator where she had her biggest battle to date and it was very close to them not being able to do anymore for her. This has caused a number of problems with the rest of her organs which are slowly deteriorating.

It’s an absolutely heartbreaking illness as this is only scratching the surface of what she actually has to deal with. Some of the worst symptoms beings pain, nausea, poor mobility and the high risk of sepsis that keeps reoccurring.

Very recently Isla has been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and a wedged vertebra, that has dramatically increased the need for the specialist wheelchair.

Isla is our absolute inspiration, and this is the least we can do to show her how much she means to us. Thank you for reading!
