Hello, I’m Donna. On the 26th of May, my beautiful daughter Isla passed away suddenly, at just 15 years old. There are no words for the horrendous pain I am going through.
Isla was so bright, funny, kind, talented, stunningly beautiful, and full of a life she will never finish living.
No parent ever imagines they will have to arrange their child’s funeral. We didn’t prepare for this financially — because who would ever think they’d need to?
Now, we are trying to give Isla the final celebration she deserves: something beautiful, unique, incredible and full of love, just like her. Thankfully, basic elements are covered by the children’s funeral fund but far from everything.
We are asking for help from anyone who knew Isla, cared for her, or wants to honour her memory. No donation is too big or too small — every gesture means the world. We would prefer that charity donations were not given in Isla’s name, as she was so often let down when she needed support.
Isla will never have a prom. She will never graduate university. She will never get married or even have her 16th birthday. All we can do now is make our final goodbye as special as she was, and surround her with the love she gave to others. We want everyone who knew her to have the opportunity to say goodbye if they wish.
Isla leaves behind her 11‑year‑old sister, who is shocked & heartbroken, trying to navigate a world without her big sister in it. Any funds left over after the funeral will be used to support her going forward — to make sure she is never left waiting when she needs help or emotional support. She loves horses, so horse therapy seems like a good starting point. Also to provide a piece of memorial jewellery so she can keep her sister with her always.
Thank you so much for helping us to honour Isla’s life. It’s an unbearable pain to think she may not get the farewell she so deserves. Also, thank you for helping us carry on a her memory.
