Isla and her medical expenses to save her leg!
Donation protected
My name is Courtney Sonski and I have the privilege of being a close friend of the Hallsted family.
In 2023, Isla (who is only 12 years old) was diagnosed with cancer- osteosarcoma in her femur. They had to take out a huge portion of her femur and her whole knee to save the leg. They installed a device to act as that part of her leg and knee. Along with this, she had to endure a strict schedule with chemotherapy. The family had to travel to Johns Hopkins, an hour from home for every appointment, chemo treatment or even a fever. The Hallsted family pushed through and Isla conquered cancer. She finally rung the bell to symbolize the end just last month in January.
Now, February 12th- Isla fell and unfortunately the implant in her femur failed her. It snapped inside her leg, causing her excruciating pain and landing her back in Hopkins.
Praise Jesus they're able to save Islas leg, but with this comes an unfortunately long stay at Hopkins for Isla and her mom Bethany.
Not only will the medical bills absolutely pile up during this time, but the costs associated with this stay also will. Food while staying in the hospital, gas for Isla's Dad and siblings to make the hour drive back and forth to Hopkins to visit and loss of work time for both parents.
If you are able, please give to this amazing family so they can just support Isla and not have to worry about finances during this time. Your donation could not go to a more deserving family. They help everyone every chance they can, now it's your turn to help them.
***Update #1 on our Isla girl!
The hardware is all available for surgery today, February 13th!!! The surgeon that came to see us this morning said, “This must be an act of God because I have NEVER seen parts like this be available anywhere near this quickly!” ❤️❤️
The problem now is that we need a space to open up in the OR. She’s on the waitlist, but they said it could even be this evening before she’s taken back. She is not allowed to eat at all until after surgery. So now we pray for space in the OR to open up for her! Her surgeon leaves tomorrow for a conference in San Francisco. We need this surgery to happen today so that he can do it! Please pray with us for an opening in the OR as soon as possible! We know God can do it! ❤️
Thank you all for your love, your prayers, your sweet messages and your donations to our family. I don’t even have words. You’re amazing! ❤️
*Edited to add that Isla has ZERO pain!! She hasn’t had any pain medicine since yesterday around 4 pm. Thank you, Lord!
