Isis’ Asylum Fund
Donation protected
I started medically and socially transitioning in 2020, and since then, I have never felt more aligned with myself and the universe. I am asking for your support to pay for the legal fees to seek asylum in the U.S. because since embarking on this journey, the Egyptian Consulate has refused to renew my expired passport, leaving me at risk of being deported back to Egypt in less than a year.
I cannot go back to Egypt without risking my life under the extremely draconian, transphobic, and queerphobic regime that is currently in power. I do not have the support of my family either, who since sharing my truth with, have ceased contact with me. This is the only avenue I have for support.
More than just a hateful act of intimidation, refusing to renew my passport means that I cannot renew my current work visa either, leaving me no choice but to seek asylum, or literally risk my life by being deported.
I am grateful to have found a strong legal team that I trust to represent my case—sadly I cannot afford their fees. The total fee to secure my legal team, and hopefully my future, amounts to $12,000. The remaining $3,000 are necessary to offset the amount GoFundMe charges for processing transactions.
I am asking for your help knowing that I am not a victim, because I choose to live fully and authentically in my truth.
With all my love and gratitude,
Isis
