iSandBOX for Newstead Nursing Home

Covid-19 has created struggles for all of us, that we could never prepare for. Newstead Nursing Home was not an exception, and we were all hit hard by the consequences it brought with it. Although we have been very fortunate to not have any cases of Covid-19 in our home, our residents and staff had to adapt quickly, and their way of living was changed. Friends and families can not come into the home and we have scheduled socially distant visits, and as you can imagine this is not the same as hugging and touching your loved ones.
Although at the minute we do not know when the restrictions will be lifted, all of us here at Newstead are finding new ways to bring exciting new opportunities into our home, and then we found the iSandBOX.
The iSandBOX is an interactive augmented reality sandbox. The sandbox has a specialised projector hanging over the sand, and as you move the sand, the picture changes. There are many different scenes you can play out, creating oceans, islands, volcanos. Interacting with the scenery, fish, mammals, dinosaurs, and playing games.
We here at Newstead believe wholeheartedly in our mission statement 'To provide warm and friendly care within a homely environment , delivered by well trained and motivated staff, to enable residents to live their lives.'
We have been looking into the iSandBOX and we believe this will be a massive tool for us all here at Newstead. The sensory elements make it easily accessible for all abilities, which means EVERYONE can use it. We have been looking to find something we can adapt and use with each resident and the iSandBOX fits the need.
We need £7140 in total for the iSandBOX, and we understand we will not be able to raise this overnight, but we would like to raise the money as soon as we can. Any amount of money is very much appreciated here, as every penny counts. We are all so grateful for the community spirit and support we have received and we hope you can continue to support our residents by donating towards our iSandBOX.
