Isaiah's Story - Medical and Memorial fundraiser
Donation protected
My name is Laura Felten and I am the legal guardian/aunt/parent of Isaiah Reeves (age 16). On the morning of June 8th, he took his own life. Our family is left devastated and completely heart broken by this sudden and unexpected tragedy! There is nothing harder than suffering through the loss of a child. Lots of "what if" questions, emotional pain, and issues adjusting to the finality of this situation.

I am very thankful for all of the prayers, well wishes, check ins, food, and daily messages. Without those actions, this would have been much harder to navigate.
Isaiah was hospitalized on June 8th and after he was pronounced as having brain death, we helped him honor his last wishes to donate his organs. He is my hero for making such an ultimate sacrifice and though I selfishly want him back with me, I am proud that he was able to possibly save/extend the lives of others. The organ donation occurred on June 12th. Since this date is also his 17th birthday, we were able to allow him to give his gifts of life on the date that once brought him life. Though emotionally draining, I am proud of my son and I will love and miss him for eternity!

This memorial is to cover medical costs incurred during his stay at the hospital. It will also be to assist with a Celebration of Life and anything else that would be associated with this tragic event (loss of work, displaced from home due to emotional trauma incurred when Isaiah was found). I will be in charge of distributing these funds.

Thank you for continuing to keep us in your prayers and thoughts! We are going to need a lot more emotional support before we are finished with the mourning process.
Please take advantage of this time by hugging your children, tight. I no longer have the ability to do that with Isaiah and if I could turn back time to bring him back, I would in a heartbeat. Please, talk to your children about their feelings and check in on them about their day, even if you don't suspect anything.
The National Suicide Hotline is 1-800-273-8255.
Thank you for your support and love!
