(My goal is to raise $8,000. Go fund me is not allowing me to adjust the set goal of $1,800). My name is Isaiah Loper, I'm from Los Angeles California. I’ve always had a passion for business and learning from others. I was recently accepted into the New York Times Academy’s summer program, where I’ll have the chance to immerse myself in topics like journalism, media, technology, and most importantly business. The program is taught by industry experts and offers unique, hands-on experiences that will help me grow both personally and academically. I’m especially excited to focus on the business track, as I hope to double major in business in college and eventually own multiple businesses. This program is a crucial step toward those goals, giving me the chance to learn from leaders in the field and connect with peers from across the country.
I have a deep appreciation for success, not just for myself but for those around me. I am constantly inspired by the stories of others and believe that learning from different perspectives is the key to growth. My drive comes from a desire to diversify my mindset and build a strong network of people who challenge and support each other. Attending the academy will allow me to expand my horizons, learn from my peers, and develop the skills I need to make a positive impact.
Beyond academics, I am committed to leadership and service. I serve as the president of my school's Black Student Union, participate as a student ambassador, and am involved in leadership programs. I am also the basketball team manager, a member of the National Honor Society, and active in C5LA, a youth leadership organization. Through these roles, I strive to give back and make a difference in my community.
Attending the academy comes with significant costs, including tuition, room and board, additional fees, and travel expenses. As someone who has moved from household to household and spent time in domestic violence shelters, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to pursue big dreams without a strong support system. Growing up in a multicultural household and attending a diverse high school taught me the value of learning from different perspectives. I’m determined to break generational cycles and create a better future for myself and others. Your support will help me access this life-changing opportunity and continue my journey toward making a positive impact through business and community.
