Isaiah’s Life Changing Surgery

Donation protected

My cousin and her son/family need our help!
I first handedly know what it’s like to have a child sick and fighting for his life. The countless nights crying myself to sleep, wondering if the next medication will cause a reaction or the lack of energy to feed/take care of my family.

Madison is my cousin and my bestfriend. She never left our side going through Jacks leukemia journey and now Jack celebrates 6 years cancer free. She was there for us in ways that were indescribable.

I want to be there physically for Madison and her beautiful family and so I’m asking for everyone’s help, prayers, donations and shares!

Her son Isaiah will be 3 years old in November and was given a journey of life only very few have experienced in this life. He is a true Saint. Saint Isaiah Edward

As Madison shares, “ Isaiah was born unknowingly with 2 knots in his umbilical cord and wrapped around his neck twice. He was at some point in utero strangled and lost oxygen to his brain for a very extensive amount of time. God released the cord and later after his birth, quickly learned from the doctors something was wrong with Isaiah. He has Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) his brain severely lost oxygen causing brain damage that is so severe it effects Isaiahs ability to blink his eyes, swallow, he has Cerebral palsy of all four limbs, palsy in his motility of his bowels and has been having spasticity in his whole body in his muscles( imagine a Charlie horse that never goes away) causing several bones to break, his spine to curve so severe he eventually will snap his spine and cut his spinal cord and has his hips dislocated more than 30 percent. Isaiah has hyperextended knees and a club foot. His excruciating pain of his legs being as straight as a board and how his legs affect his hips and spine, cause Isaiah to be in so much pain, no one will ever truly know as there are no medications, switching positions that has relieved pain and some days he cries all day/night.

End of August, doctors have given us the opportunity to perform a surgery, ( Motor/ sensory rhizotomy more than 2 segments with osteoplastic reconstruction of spine) in terms we can understand he will be a paralyzed from the hips down. Unable to have any sensory or feel any pain. This surgery is very very scary and rare. With 1 out of 7 doctors in the country doing Isaiah surgery and have done on average 1-2 a year for the last 20 years of the doctors career, we know Isaiah will be in medical journals paving the way for patients like him to potentially gain pain relief. Isaiah’s surgery is set for Thursday September 21st at 11am please keep him in your prayers.

Unfortunately the risk of the surgery, maybe that Isaiah does not pull threw surgery, worst case loose complete sensation of pee/poop and will need a catheter/ colostomy bag for the rest of his life, however he would not be in the current immense pain he is in.

As Isaiah’s parents, we have chosen to provide Isaiah the opportunity to have pain free days. We believe God will protect our child and we do give Isaiah the permission to join His Heavenly Father if he chooses to relieve himself of this earthy pain during his surgery. He will have never been under for this amount of time and this extensive of a surgery(minimum 4 hours long). We know Isaiah is our fighter and he is “the boss” since day one. We have Faith that Isaiah and God have his life exactly how everything is suppose to go and each day we are blessed to care for Isaiah. 12 medications, giving meds 30 times a day, suctioning his saliva so he doesn’t choke/aspirate, blink his eyes, breathing treatments, apply ointment in his eyes and bathe every inch of his body while He chooses us to love him is a true honor and testament to our Faith and love for Isaiah”.

Madison and Isaiah will have a 10 plus day stay in the hospital. Her husband Andrew, will have her other 3 children (6,5,2) at home to care/feed/ travel 1 hour one way to see them in the hospital. All of these expenses will be very expensive and I want to help them the best way I know how!

The Brooks family needs your prayers for strength, donations to go to expenses during the hospitalization, and sharing this go fund me will also be a huge support. I love you so much Brooks family. Hugs from Ohio
