“He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.”
-Isaiah 25:8
Isaiah Edwards was 25 years old and 8 months when he made his transition from this world. Those who met Isaiah will never forget the way he made them feel, the tears that would fall from their eyes in laughter or vulnerability, and the love and genuineness in his every interaction.
As a man, Isaiah embodied principles grounded in faith, patience, laughter, and love. He was a son, a brother, a partner, a mentor, and a friend. He was the type of man who cherished relationships and saw unique potential in the individuals he encountered. He poured smiles into every room he entered. From singing Usher’s Confessions on university shuttles, to livening up parties with a flawless “Milly Rock,” to convincing friends to stay up into the late hours of the night amidst incessant laughter and genius social commentary, Isaiah specialized in making moments memorable. It saddens us that Isaiah is no longer here in the physical to share his brilliance with the world, but through these memories, his legacy lives on with us.
An alumnus of Landon School ‘13 and Brown University ‘17, Isaiah Edwards made sure that he left every person, place, and conversation better than before he arrived. He worked tirelessly to empower the disempowered. At Brown, he was the Head of Harambee House, a cultural and residential center for all Black students. He led the Brotherhood, a group that strives to build an intergenerational support-network and bolsters community engagement amongst Black men on campus. He was president of Beta Omega Chi Inc. when the fraternity became the first Black greek organization to secure University-recognized residential space. His involvement extended into many other organizations. He was actively involved in Black Christian Ministries and his comedy group, Improvidence. Making an indelible impact, Isaiah uplifted and amplified the voices of so many communities in his time at Brown.
Family and close friends of Isaiah have set a goal to raise $100,000 in order to:
- Commemorate his life which will be celebrated at the earliest opportunity
- Help supplement the significant economic contribution that this Ivy League Graduate and prospective MBA student provided his family
- Help Isaiah’s family with future goals of starting educational programming that would honor his legacy
We truly appreciate your support of any amount!
