HELP SAVE OUR KIDZ MISSION HOUSE
Thank you for visiting our Go Fund Me Page!
We currently have an Urgent Crisis!
My name is Pastor Rosey Andrews. I am the founder and executive director of Northeast Gateway to Freedom Inc.. We are a 501C3 Christian Life Center/ Mission to disadvantage youth in the inner-city of Newburgh, NY. Our mission is located at 104 Broadway in the City of Newburgh, 70 miles north of NYC on the Hudson River.
Our Critical Need:
Our Mission house was just purchased by investors in a foreclosure sale. The investors have given us the opportunity to buy it back for $150,000, (WAY below market price)! They have given us a 30 day window of time that began on June 23rd, to find funding. As you can see time is of the esence.
Over the past 10 years our mission house has been used as a parsonage, a temporary refuge for abused women and displaced families but most importantly a home for unaccompanied minors in disparate situations. One recent example: I personally found a 12 year old boy sleeping on the roof of a foreclosed building in the City of Newburgh. I housed him in our mission house for 7 months which interned not only gave him a safe place to live but saved his entire year of school.
Please see our website for more information on our mission house: http://northeastgatewaytofreedom.org/save-the-mission-house.html
Our Second unexspected Need:
While the mission house was going into foreclosure we suddenly lost the use of a 5000 sq. ft parking lot that we cleaned, maintained, improved and used for 100s of kids to have a safe place to play for the last 7 years. This lot is essential to the running of our kids program to accommodate outdoor activities especially but not only in the warmer weather. Without the use of this lot there is no outdoor space for the kids. This outdoor space was loaned to us for the cost of maintaining and insuring it. The owner lost it due to tax default and it was repossessed by the city and then sold to the Land bank. We put in a proposal to buy it if they choose to sell it to us, or we could buy another empty lot along side of our building. In any event the cost for either lot will be $30-40,000.00 to purchase and to pave.
We never dreamed that we would have a need of such magnitude come to our humble mission all at one time. Nor would we have expected to appeal to anyone for such a large amount. However, without this crisis being solved the children will be pushed back out into the crime ridden streets. Many of them already fear playing outside in their own neighborhoods because of the ongoing drug use and other illegal activity right outside their doorsteps. Solving this present crisis will give the children a safe haven in which to thrive.
Our website is www.northeastgatewaytofreedom.org and we can be found on Northeast Gateway To Freedom on Facebook.
About us: Our year-round mission is to rescue the next generation. We do this to primarily empower youth by giving them hope, vision and encouragement for their future, prevent crime and provide a safe place for them to go. All of the youth we serve are without their fathers in the home. We are an exciting, innovative, fun filled, active and safe haven for latch key unaccompanied minors and youth of financially struggling homes. Currently we provide weekly boxes of groceries to 350 local residents. WE AIM TO BE A HELPING HAND UP NOT A HAND OUT.
Unfortunately, budget cuts in our city have deprived our youth of many programs and activities, leaving them to wander the streets unaccompanied, hungry, and with nothing to do. Our initiative provides the following services:
We serve thousands of meals to the youth in our community
We run a year-round kidz initiative
We outfit them with clothing
We provide their daily school supplies
We provide academic help, life skills training, and advocate on their behalf
We run a fast paced summer kidz initiative
Take them on educational and purposeful field trips that expand their vision
We deliver bountiful boxes of groceries to the homes of the kidz weekly
We partner with local business professionals for Mock-job training
We teach them the Word of God
All of what we do is through a collaboration of volunteers and a small staff that many times goes with little or no pay. We do not receive any government funding. All of our funding comes through generous people and businesses who believe in our purpose and vision.
We will accept donations of any amount to reach our goal of $200,000.00. All support given will never be forgotten and will be greatly appreciated.
Ways to Give: Our Go Fund Me Page, our website or by check to NGTF through the mail (PO Box 2187, Newburgh, New York 12550. We will gladly provide references to you upon request.
Your generosity is invaluable, will HELP SAVE THE MISSION HOUSE and will invest in the lives of the next generation.
With the Utmost Gratitude,
Pastor Rosey Andrews
