Isabelle is 18 and a Senior at Waunakee High School (WI). She has been battling multiple chronic illnesses for six years but most significantly since November 2015.
Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction has left Isabelle reliant on receiving all of her nutrition through tubes. The past year of intestional failure has been full of ups and downs including hospice care, learning how to walk again, disease progression that has caused her small intestine to shut down amongst the rest of her GI track and her ileostomy has failed leaving Isabelle with a distended abdoman and significant pain.
Isabelle's team of gastroenterologists at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin have exhausted every option of treatment. The last remaining chance to regain quality of life is to receive a transplant to replace her entire digestive track.
There are significant hurdles to overcome including the evaluation process to qualify to be on the transplant list, then waiting and then recovering from such a tremendous surgery. Please send prayers and good vibes that the pieces of this complicated puzzle come together so Isabelle can get back to living life, enjoying time with her family and friends and reaching the goals and milestones that she has ahead.
Isabelle has touched so many lives with her fierce tenacity to fight, her unwavering faith and upbeat spirit, her infectious smile, and her gift of words that has documented this difficult and trying journey.
