Isaac's Eagle Project: Safer Play for Church Kids
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Isaac Hopkins, Life Scout working towards Eagle with Troop 522 in Woodlawn, Tennessee. I started Scouts in 2014 as a Tiger (1st grader). We met at a small country church named Blooming Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed playing on the playground before and after our meetings. After our Pack outgrew the small church, we had to move to a new meeting location, but my family started attending church there, so I was able to enjoy the playground after services each Sunday. Unfortunately, in 2020, we stopped attending church.
When I earned my Life rank and started working towards Eagle rank, I thought back through the years and wondered if the little church where it all started could benefit from my Eagle Project. We reached out to a friend who still attends church there and found out that the playground could use an update to better serve the children of the congregation.
I plan to lead a team of volunteers to rearrange the existing swing set, replace the cracked swings and slide, add a new play structure, create a toddler area, build seating for parents, and spread rubber mulch to prevent others from experiencing the skinned knees and elbows I remember.
This is a big job, but I know I can do it. I do need help with the funds for the new equipment and rubber mulch. Any contributions or support would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will benefit the children of Blooming Grove Baptist Church.
