Help for Isaac After a Life Changing Accident

On July 28, our family’s world changed in an instant. Isaac was the victim of a devastating accident caused by a drunk driver. He was on the shoulder of the 605 freeway with a blown out tire when a drunk driver swerved causing a collision. Isaac’s right leg was crushed between two vehicles. His injuries were so severe that when he got to the hospital Isaac underwent an emergency transtibial amputation. Due to the extensive damage his leg sustained, that was ultimately followed by a transfemoral amputation.

Isaac spent 9 days in the hospital, including 6 days in the ICU, fighting through the immediate aftermath of this traumatic injury. He is now continuing his recovery in a rehabilitation facility, where he is working hard to regain his strength, independence, and confidence as he adjusts to a life he never expected to have.

Isaac has always been an athlete, playing baseball and soccer every season from a very young age. Being active has always been such an important part of who he is. Sports taught him how to work hard, overcome challenges, keep pushing forward, and never give up. Sports helped shape the person he is today.

Now, at only 19 years old, Isaac is facing the biggest challenge of his life.

His recovery will not end when he leaves the rehab facility. He will need ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, therapy, and, most importantly, prosthetic care. A prosthetic leg will be a critical part of helping Isaac regain mobility, independence, and the ability to pursue the active life he has always loved.

Prosthetics and the ongoing care associated with them can be incredibly expensive. These are expenses Isaac will face for years to come.

We are creating this fundraiser to help cover Isaac’s current medical expenses and future medical needs, including prosthetics, rehabilitation, therapy, and related care.

Our hope is to give Isaac the time and resources he needs to focus on healing and rebuilding his life rather than worrying about the financial burden of his recovery.

Isaac has a long road ahead of him, but we know his strength. We have watched him grow from a little boy with a baseball glove & bat, shin guards & goalie gloves, into the determined young man he is today. We live in gratitude that Isaac survived this accident and we know that his same, strong determination will carry him through this next chapter.
