We are asking for your support for Isaac Torpy and his Family
Isaac Torpy, a vibrant and active 20-year-old, has recently been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer — a 7cm synovial sarcoma in his right foot.
Until this diagnosis, Isaac led a full and healthy life. He was an enthusiastic member of the Lake Wendouree Football Club, a basketball player with the Saints in Ballarat, and a talented water skier. When he began experiencing persistent pain in his foot while playing football, initial tests led to further investigation at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne. The devastating outcome was the diagnosis of this rare soft tissue cancer.
Medical specialists have determined that the only viable course of treatment is the amputation of Isaac’s foot, followed by an intensive course of chemotherapy.
This life-altering news has been a deeply emotional and confronting experience for Isaac and his family. It has also forced Isaac to put his third year of an Accounting and Business degree at Deakin University on hold so he can focus on his treatment and recovery.
The Torpy family is now navigating the considerable emotional and financial burden that comes with such a diagnosis. This includes ongoing medical care, travel and accommodation for treatment in Melbourne, home modifications, psychological support, and a future prosthetic.
While the Torpy family has not asked for assistance, we know that many within the Ballarat community and beyond will want to rally around them in their time of need. Any contribution — no matter the size — will help support Isaac and his family on this difficult journey and will be received with heartfelt gratitude.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
