Isaac Nubberd's Memorial Fund
Our brother in law, Isaac, was someone you could always depend on. When many people quickly found excuses, Isaac, was the kind of
person that would be the first to sign up to help you move. He could consistently make you laugh with some awkward, witty joke.
Isaac was a devoted husband to my sister, Lauren, and a dedicated father to my nieces, Grace (13) and Margot (8). Isaac also served his
country as a Major in the army.
A week ago Lauren and her two daughters lost their beloved husband and father to suicide. No one in our family realized that behind
Isaac's kindness and happy personality was, in fact, so much pain. Over his last deployment, his mental health took a decline. It is this
haunting thought that will always remain an unanswered question to our family, why did we not see it? Someone that was so close to us
and such a part of our daily lives, how could we not know the pain that he was carrying?
Isaac was hardworking, caring, compassionate, and never passed judgement on others. He made Lauren and the girls his life and ensured
that they had everything they wanted. There were many instances that reflected how much he cared for them. My favorite one of these
instances was how Isaac, a cat person, ended up not only with one, but two dogs because that's what Lauren and the girls wanted. He cared for those two dogs with kindness and patience - never complaining.
We are in absolute shock and this tragedy will forever leave a void in our lives, in our family. For Lauren and the girls, losing their husband
and father has left them in complete shock. The life they were building has come to a screeching halt and now Lauren is faced with raising two young girls as a single mother and with a single income.
This page is created not only to show our sister the amount of support and love that we all have for them, but it is also created in hope of
bringing light to the suicide epidemic. Depression is a serious medical illness and has life long devastating outcomes for families. People
suffer in silence and too often others don't see it.
The pain of the daily impact of Isaac's loss has been overwhelming to Lauren and the girls. The thought that Margot will grow up without
being able to make new memories with her father past the age of eight is agonizing, Grace will never be able to go on that camping trip that Isaac and her had planned on for this summer makes our hearts ache, and that Lauren is now raising two girls without her husband is gut
wrenching. Moving forward there will always be an empty chair at family gatherings and our family will simply not be the same without
Isaac.
Please help support Lauren and her daughters as they are faced with covering the cost of the funeral and a future with now a single income household. The funeral cost was $12,000.
We would so appreciate if you could share this page with the hope of bringing awareness to suicide and depression. Life has so much value and purpose. We encourage you to reach out to that friend or family member and check in on them as we wish we could now with Isaac,
but no longer can.
As we look ahead, we're leaning into God's word as He continues to guide our family through these troubled times.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit"
(Psalm 34:18).
