Iryna & Vlad Relocate from Ukraine to Germany

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sally Osborn. In 1997 my ex-husband, Jim, had a foreign exchange student-Kate- from Ukraine. I had a foreign exchange student-Lauren- from France. Our family traveled together with all the children during that school year. On March 16, 1997, Jim was piloting his plane home to Odessa from Cuerrnavaca, Mexico and flew into a mountain. He died along with my step-daughter Lydia and his foreign exchange student Kate. Iryna and Vlad Snagovskaya, Kate's parents, flew from Lviv, Ukraine to Odessa, Texas where our family spent time with them. Iryna and Vlad came back to the US and lived in Austin, Texas for a short time where Jim's first wife Judy Osborn hosted them at her house a number of times and drove them to Odessa to see our family here. They went back to Lviv and we have all kept in touch with Iryna and Vlad over the years. Kate was their only child. My exchange student Lauren started a fundraiser in France but it is difficult to donate to from the US. After the beginning of the war, my first messages were that they were trying to stay calm. No word for several days and then "Now we're trying to escape from Ukraine and are near the Polish border." Next message "We left Lviv in our auto, we stayed 24 hours in a long line to cross the Ukrainian border and then we drove more than 1200 km to reach Munich. You can't imagine what's going on at the Ukrainian border. Women with children are staying in long lines to cross the border by bus, and there are lots of women with children, who are crossing the border by foot." Iryna and Vlad are now in Munich staying with family. I communicated that we wanted to help them and this is her response. "Hello Sally. We're very touched by your willingness to help. Now we are safe, with the family of my nephew (Kate's cousin), but our future is absolutely uncertain. I want to help them with their relocation. As Iryna said, their future is uncertain. They have left their home, their country and their livelihood. Please donate to help them with their new beginning. Another photo - From left-our middle daughter Emily, Jim Sr, my oldest daughter Leah next to me. Lauren seated with Kate (15) next to her. We were at Judy's home in Austin. Not pictured, Judy, Jim Jr., Kevin, Lydia and Claire. The day after this photo we took the girls to the outlet mall in San Marcos for a marathon shopping trip.
