Irving Banister Sr Funeral Fund
Donation protected
Irving Banister Sr was one of the unsung legends of New Orleans music. His distinctive style made many influential musicians call him for recording sessions and tours. Irving played with George Porter Jr, Walter Wolfman Washington, Dr John, Eddie Bo, Ernie K Doe, Sugar Boy Crawford and Danny White, just to name a few. "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye", "Jockamo" by Sugar Boy Crawford (now known as "Iko Iko") and Dr John's "Going Back to New Orleans" are just some of the recordings on which Irving Banister Sr played. Irving was a player in the House Band at the famous Dew Drop Inn and many musicians credit him with mentoring and influencing them to develop their own new and distinctive styles of playing.
Irving Banister Sr passed away on December 15th. Although his is not a household name like many of his former bandmates, New Orleans music would not be the same without him. This gofundme is set up to help an influential musician's family cover funeral expenses. All funds will go to his wife, Queen Bee Littdell Banister of the Mardi Gras Indians, to cover these expenses.
