IronMan for Mama (Fight Against Breast Cancer)
Donation protected
I am raising money to increase the awareness around breast cancer. For those who have fought, for those who are still fighting, and for those who are no longer with us. My passion for this cause began when my mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 12 years old. From that day on I've dedicated a big portion of my life to helping fight the fight against this disease.
Why am I doing an Ironman as a result? Because I have the privilege to. I can run, I can bike, I can swim, there for I Can Serve. I Can Serve is the non-profit that I am competing for (based out of my home country of the Philippines), that advocates early breast cancer detection through breast self-examination. This organization helps thousands of people throughout the Philippines to educate themselves about the disease, how to catch it, and prevent it from growing.
This cause is important to me because it is how my mother discovered she had breast cancer. If not for her knowledge about self-checking and the importance for it, she may not be here with us today. And because this is something so simple, yet so important I find that it is something worth raising money and awareness for.
If you do decide to make a donation, alongside it, please provide a name of someone you know (whether family or just someone you're) fighting against breast cancer. I plan to create a shirt for the race that I will wear with all of the names of the people given to me on it, so that I can take them with me on my journey as I try to complete my first ever Ironman.
I hope you can join me on this journey!
The wonderful woman who is helping me with this Campaign ( the beneficiary) is Maria Anthea Robles. As ICanServe is a small foundation based out of the Philippines Maria Anthea Robles is helping me with organizing the finances of the campaign to assure that all the money reaches ICanServe in Manila. Maria Anthea Robles also has done many things in support of breast cancer, running the New York Marathon for those fighting breast cancer, including my mother.
