As most of you will know, since I turned 18, I have always loved pushing my limits by tackling extreme endurance events and challenges. I have fundraised a few times to do my bit but this one is the one that means the most. Last year, I was lucky enough to qualify for the triathlon world championships. While this will be a massive challenge for myself, it is no where near the challenge my sister Ellie has been facing. As some will know my sister Ellie was diagnosed with Crohns disease in 2019 and has gone through countless treatments, medications and diet alterations, not to mention the pain and suffering this disease causes. Although some of these methods work for a short period of time, she is almost always back to square one or facing another health problem. The disease is gruelling. So in January this year she has made the brave decision to have part of her bowel removed to hopefully regain some normality to her life. Despite the daily struggles of living with Crohns, Ellie always lives life to the full, never letting anything stop her. While we are hopeful that this operation will give Ellie more normality in her day to day life it is not a cure and more research is needed to find a way to navigate living well with Crohn’s. It has been a great motivation for me when I am struggling in a race to remind myself of the battles she faces, the strength she shows daily encourages me to keep going. I may be an Ironman but she is a superwoman. So for all these reason, I will be raising money for Crohns. Thanks in advance for the support
