Ironman Leeds 2025

In July 2025 I will be taking part in the Leeds Ironman on behalf of Huhtamaki Lurgan to help raise vital funds for our chosen charities, Air Ambulance NI & Angel Wishes. Each year we select two local charities and hold various events and fundraisers throughout the year to raise as much money as possible, which Huhtamaki will then match.

Air Ambulance NI operate a helicopter emergency medical service dedicated to responding to serious trauma and medical emergencies in Northern Ireland. Serious or life-threatening situations can happen to anyone at any time and on average, every single day in Northern Ireland, two individuals find themselves in critical need of AANI. They rely entirely on support from the public and local businesses so your donations will go a long way towards helping save lives.

Angel Wishes supports children throughout Northern Ireland with cancer related conditions after being set up in 2016 in memory of two young siblings who both sadly passed away with cancer related conditions. They provide financial support to families as well assistance with education and arranging outings to help make special memories. Angel Wishes is operated solely by volunteers and 100% of all proceeds raised go directly into supporting families and helping them through some of the hardest times of their lives.

An Ironman is one of the most challenging endurance races, consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a marathon 26.2 mile run, completed in that order. Over the past number of months I have been faced with 4:30am starts, 6 days per week to get in as much training as possible to take on this challenge. I have taken part in various other events in preparation such as a Sprint Triathlon, an Olympic Distance Triathlon & Gaelforce West Adventure Race.
