My name is Daniel Rafferty and I am 36 years old from county Armagh. I have been residing in Australia for the past 14 years and I took the decision to register for a full Ironman which will take place in Emilia Romagna, Italy on the 20th September this year.
On 27th September 2018 my friend Ryan Nugent passed away in a RTC in Australia and ever since I have been carrying his memory with me in everything I do and everywhere I go. Ryan lived his life to the fullest and I want to honour him by dedicating this race to him. Every step I take will be a tribute to his vibrant spirit , a reminder of the joy he brought into my life.
Under heart wrenching circumstances surrounding Ryan's passing, I witnessed first hand the work The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust does and I want to take this opportunity to support this charity.
This race includes a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride and a 42.2km run. Less than 0.01% of the world's population has completed a full Ironman triathlon and my ultimate goal would be to finish the race. I will embrace this challenge carrying Ryan's spirit with me and I thank you all in advance for the support and encouragement in doing so.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated and thank you to an amazing charity for the help and support you provide family's in their darkest days.
Thanks again,
Daniel
