In memory of Billy, on the 20th of July 2024 Lewis, Tom and Harvey will each be completing one leg of an IRONMAN distance triathlon, raising money for 3 charities that were close to Billy's heart:

• Prison Fellowship

• The Basement Door

• Sportsreach

As well as raising money for 3 great causes, the event will give an opportunity to remember a great friend and brother, by gathering from 5pm on 20/7/24 at Staines Congregational Church (TW18 1AY) for a BBQ as well as acting as the finish line for the triathlon! We will hear from each of the charities and be able to remember Billy through music played by friends and family. Everyone is welcome!

The triathlon consists of 3 legs; a 2.4m/3.8km swim from Lewis, a 112m/180km cycle by Tom and a 26.2m/42.2km run from Harvey, all being completed in the local area around Staines, we would love any support along the way! We would also love it if anyone would like to join us, even for just a section of our swim, cycle or run. Our memory of Billy is of a young man who loved Music, Fitness and his Faith in Jesus, as well as being passionate about working in the prison service helping young people. We have tried to incorporate each of these elements into the chosen charities:

Prison Fellowship

Billy was so excited to be going into the prison service, he wanted to help young men in a difficult spot turn their lives around. One way he hoped to do this was by speaking about his faith and sharing about how the good news about Jesus could help them. This fits Prison Fellowship perfectly as they believe that no-one is beyond hope reaching out to show Christ’s love to people in prison by coming alongside them and supporting them. The Basement Door

I'm sure that no one who knew him well needs reminding of how gifted and passionate Billy was when it came to music and performing, through his teenage years Billy played at The Basement Door a number of times as they aim to give young people the ability to perform and build their skills in a safe, drug-free, alcohol-free environment across south-west London. We're sure that Billy would want as many young talented musicians to have the same opportunities he did. For more info visit: https://www.thebasementdoor.org/

SportsReach

Billy was someone who enjoyed his sport and fitness whether that was through lifting heavy or shouting at his beloved Man Utd. He was also someone who had faith and wanted to tell others about Jesus. SportsReach aim to reach the world for Christ through sport and put on 'Soccer & Netball schools' for young people to share the good news of Jesus with them as well as going overseas to love people and share the gospel. Billy grew up going to 'soccer schools' having a big role to play in strengthening his faith each year before going on to be a coach! The money raised through the event will go towards a sponsored school SportsReach have helped to set up in Lumakanda, Kenya, providing the opportunity for children to be educated that otherwise would not have the finances or opportunity. 40 new pupils started this year many in need of financial help as well as a secondary school building being constructed.
