Iron Race For a Case

My name is Paula and like everyone else, I also have my own story behind the Ironman. I discovered my passion for fitness only two and a half years ago, and at first I just wanted to drop some weight and look better. Slowly, I found new friends and surrounded myself with like-minded people who encouraged me to do more, and to start competing at sports events such as hyrox. I was constantly told that I am very competitive and mentally strong. But where to go from there?

Then, one day I was told that with my character I would do great at an Ironman. When asked: would you do it? I said yes, without even knowing what’s an Ironman... After some quick research, I was shocked seeing what I had agreed upon, but the decision had already been made…

I was going through a difficult period of my life and everything felt as if it was upside down. I finally decided that it was about time for some self-improvement, to let go and set myself free... I opened up and shared what was bothering me, and it turned out that I had shared it with the right person, who promised that training for an Ironman will change my life and help me overcome my past traumas.

What I wasn’t told was that it would consume my whole life! But now I know that that’s the whole point. Even though the endless running, biking and swimming can’t shield me from my problems, I have found inner peace in my long, lonely training sessions. I love the physical and mental challenge that the Ironman brings to my life. The whole Ironman journey itself is self therapy.

I was so drawn to the idea of become an Ironman that a year ago I completely switched to triathlon training and put all of my focus into that. I finished my first ever Ironman 70.3 with an incredible time of 5 hours and 53 minutes. Now it’s time to become an Ironman! 140.6 awaits… This upcoming event will be such a big accomplishment for me, that I would like to seal it with a noble case: a fundraising for a charity!

It doesn’t matter how much you can afford to give, charities are always appreciative of any amount! I am sure you can skip one coffee and help me raise money And please, don’t forget to share this link with your family and friends!!

Thank you in advance for your contribution!
You are awesome

Why Rape Crisis in England & Wales?
Because it happened to me, to my family members, to my friends, and to every fourth woman you pass on the streets, to every 6th child you might know, and also to men who will probably never share it with anyone, that’s why the data we have says 1 in 18.

1 in 4women have been raped or sexually assaulted as an adult (6.54 million women in total), 1 in 6children have been sexually abused, 1 in 18men have been raped or sexually assaulted as an adult (1.34 million men in total).

This organisation raises awareness and understanding across England and Wales of sexual violence and abuse in all its forms.
They are the national umbrella body for their network of autonomous member Rape Crisis Centres across England and Wales.
