Irma's Bar Prep and Bar Exam Expenses

Donation protected
I come here in the humblest of ways. I hesitated to make a GoFundMe, but the time has come to ask for help. Before I detail expenses, I want you all to know a little more about me.

My name is Irma Ramirez. I am a 27-year-old Mexican American woman from Reading, Pennsylvania. I'm a single mom of two currently residing in Niles, Michigan. I attended Michigan State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies in 2017, before attending Western Michigan Cooley Law School. Did you know Latinas make up less than 2% of American lawyers?

Graduating law school is not only a celebration for me but also a celebration of my parents and their sacrifices. I am the proud daughter of Mexican Immigrants. My parents worked hard and tirelessly for my sisters and I. Because of their sacrifices, I am determined to be a role model to my children and other underrepresented non-traditional students. I am conscious that becoming a licensed attorney will allow my children to have a better life, and it will open new doors for us. But more importantly, I will also be able to give back to my Latinx community by providing bilingual legal services and other resources to which we don’t have access.

This fundraiser will help me with paying for Bar Exam fees. This exam is the only thing standing in the way of FINALLY becoming a licensed attorney. I plan to take the Indiana Bar Exam on July 26th and 27th. Here is a breakdown of fees.

-Barbri Bar Prep Course: $2,982.00

-Bar Exam Application Fee: $250

-Bar Exam Computer Software (Examplify): $120

-AdaptiBar: $395

-MPRE: $150

-Fingerprints and State Police Background Check: $100

-Study Supplies: $200

It is common practice to take out a loan for the exam expenses; this allows a student to focus on studying without having to work. Unfortunately, due to being on maternity leave and my limited income as a student, I do not qualify for a loan. With that being said, I come to my friends and family, asking for help. Any donation would go a long way. I am so close. This is the last step to making my dream of becoming an attorney a reality. Not becoming an attorney is not an option.

Thank you in advance for your continued prayers, love, and support!
