Querida familia, amigos y comunidad,

Hoy estamos de luto al despedir a nuestra querida hermana, tia, amiga, y madre, Irma Zavala Castaneda, quien falleció el 18 de octubre de 2023, rodeada de familiares, amigos y oraciones. Ella siempre estuvo llena de amor, bondad y generosidad que tocaron las vidas de todos los que la conocieron. Todos nosotros sentimos profundamente su ausencia. Irma deja atrás a su amado esposo Juan Zavala y cuatro hijas: Leslie, Daisy, Jasmine y Vivian Zavala.

En 2020, a nuestra madre le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon y, aunque muchos de nosotros estábamos devastados por su diagnóstico, ella no. Ella nunca demostró miedo y enfrentó esta enfermedad con valentía y fe, sin perder la esperanza y confiando en la voluntad de Dios. A pesar de los difíciles tratamientos por los que pasó, siempre los enfrentó con positividad y en el proceso animó a quienes la rodeaban. Ella fue la base de nuestra familia que siempre nos transmitió fortaleza y de alguna manera nos preparó para lo que vendría en los años siguientes.

Nuestra madre dedicó su vida a servir a Dios, a la familia, a los amigos y a la comunidad. Estar en su compañía fue una bendición; ella siempre tenía una manera de llenar la habitación de alegría, amor, risa, fe y calidez. Ella siempre te dejaba con el estómago y corazón lleno. Su misión en la vida era servir a los demás, amar incondicionalmente y consolar a todos los que se cruzaban en su camino. A lo largo de su vida recibió ayuda de familiares, amigos y de la comunidad, lo que le dio el deseo de retribuir también a los demás. Ella creó un hogar para muchos e hizo que quienes la rodeaban se sintieran bienvenidos a su familia y a su hogar.

Mientras nos preparamos para su funeral, desafortunadamente nos enfrentamos al alto costo de los servicios para el funeral. Nuestro deseo es darle el homenaje que se merece, honrar su memoria y su vida mientras nos despedimos por última vez. Amablemente solicitamos cualquier donación para ayudar a cubrir el costo de su funeral. Entendemos las difíciles circunstancias que todos enfrentamos y estamos muy agradecidos por cualquier cantidad que puedan contribuir.

Dear family, friends, and community,

We are in mourning today as we say goodbye to our beloved sister, aunt and friend, and mother Irma Zavala Castaneda, who passed away on October 18, 2023, surrounded by family, friends, and prayers. She was always full of love, kindness, and generosity who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her absence will be greatly felt by all of us. Irma leaves behind her loving husband Juan Zavala and four daughters: Leslie, Daisy, Jasmine, and Vivian Zavala.

In 2020, our mother was diagnosed with colon cancer and though many of us were devastated with her diagnosis, she was not. She was fearless and faced this illness with courage and faith, never losing hope and trusting in God's will. Despite the difficult treatments she went through she always faced them with positivity and courage and in the process uplifted those around her. She was the foundation in our family who always transmitted strength and in a way prepared us for what was to come in the years to follow.

Our mother dedicated her life to serving God, family, friends, and community. Being in her company was a blessing; she always had a way to fill the room with joy, love, laughter, faith, and warmth. She would always leave you with a full belly and a full heart. Her mission in life was to serve others, love unconditionally, and comfort everyone who would cross paths with her. Throughout her life she received help from family, friends and community which gave her the desire to give back to others as well. She created a home for many and made those around her feel welcome into her family and into her home.

As we prepare for her memorial, we are unfortunately struggling with the high cost of the services and items necessary for the funeral. Our desire is to give her the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and her life as we say our last goodbyes. We are kindly asking for any donations to help cover the cost of her funeral. We understand the difficult circumstances we all face, and are so very grateful for any amount you are able to contribute.
