Iris' Final Wish

Donation protected

My name is Iris. I am 15 years old and I need help to fundraise to support my family and my final wish. I was given the formal diagnosis of metastatic sarcoma on July 13, 2020, a terminal and incurable cancer. I was told I have few months left to live.

I was first diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma in July 2019. After few rounds of chemotherapy and surgery, I was able to live like a typical teenager for the past year. I was able to enjoy grade 9, played volleyball, met new friends and made some big plans for senior high school next year. This was until I got admitted to the Alberta Children’s Hospital again on July 5, 2020 after I started slurring speech at home. My parents rushed me to the emergency department where they found tumors in my brain, I was rushed into surgery the next day where they removed the tumors.

I thought I would be fine. I thought I just needed more chemotherapy. I thought they were kidding when they told me there were more tumors in my lungs, near my heart; tumors grew in my brain despite of surgery, then it spread to my lymph nodes.

I moved into the Rotary Flames House, a children’s hospice on August 2, 2020 and immediately followed by brain and heart radiation. Many people asked me what are some wishes that I want to accomplish with the time I have left. Since I was very little, I have dreams to do well in school, graduate high school, go to university and make decent income so I can raise my parents just like how they have worked hard to raise me. I have planned to build my parents a new home so they can have space to babysit their grandchildren, cook for the family, host baby showers for my sister and I and create memories. This has always been my dream and my only dream.

My dream is ending too soon; my time is coming to an end in few months time. I need help from everyone in the community to take care of my family because I couldn’t. I want to raise enough money to help my parents to renovate their home that needs much repair, I heard heaven is a beautiful place and I want to leave the world knowing our family home is almost as beautiful as heaven and that my family will be okay when I’m not by their side.
