Help us help our friend see in a whole new way. Shelley and her family are long time members of our Revolution Martial Arts family. Her boys take classes here and she is also a practitioner of Jiu Jitsu.  At birth she was diagnosed with an eye condition called Optic Atrophy meaning small Optic Nerves. She is legally blind, but does retain some usable eye sight. It’s hard for her to explain to people exactly what she can see and doctors can’t even put a number on her eye sight. She was taught to read print and what shapes were and even some colors. The major difficulty is everything has to be up close (within a few inches) for her to be able to make anything out. Her family has always had hope that some form of surgery or technology would help change things for her.  A few weeks ago Shelley visited a technology expo where she tried on a product called the Iris Vision. The change was amazing. She could see people walking by and quickly realized this product would help her a lot. If shelley had this she would be able to watch her boys doing karate on the mats or playing on the baseball field. It would mean so much to her and her family to have the Iris Vision. With these special glasses she would be able to watch her children participate in the sports they love.  We have made arrangements with the maker of Iris Vision for Shelley to have a pair of these glasses for herself.
