Help Iris get a diagnosis and treatment
Donation protected
I recently started fostering a sweet cat from an underfunded nearby shelter. They named her Iris. Iris is 10 weeks old, 3 pounds, and when I picked her up, they told me she had some neurological issues and a distended belly, but they didn't know much.
I took her to the vet the next day, who told me she was anemic, had round worms, a tape worm, mild pneumonia, somewhat severe constipation, and was severely dehydrated. No explanation for the belly or tremors. We treated her for what we could, and eventually her bloodwork came back normal. That visit and hospitalization was $2081.
I’ve been giving her the meds they prescribed and she’s been eating well. However, she has severe ataxia, which you can see in the videos. This could be FIP, cerebellar hypoplasia, a traumatic injury, a brain bleed, the list goes on. Finding out what it is will be really expensive. She has a few tests (PCR, toxo, crypto) coming up Friday, I’m expecting to pay around $500. An ultrasound to figure out what’s in her stomach is $650. Further medications for the next few months are going to come out to around $1500.
I’m going to provide the best care I can for little Iris, and I would appreciate any donations people can provide. There are no promises, and it’s very possible she wont’ make it, but she deserves people who advocate for her. If she passes away, I’ll of course refund any money that isn’t used.
