Irene’s Gender Confirmation Surgery Fund
Donation protected
Hey everyone!
I have been putting this off... but I have recently come to grips with the reality of my financial situation in the coming months and have realized that it is time to ask for help.
This fall, I will be getting gender confirmation surgery. I have been preparing for this for over a year and am overjoyed that the day is approaching. It’s impossible to express the importance of this surgery for my mental and physical health, and the extent to which my quality of life will improve once it is complete.
The recovery for my surgery is 12 weeks. During this time I will not be able to work or exert myself physically. In addition to this period of being out of work, my medical costs will be much higher than they are right now. I will soon lose my current insurance coverage and will need to select an expensive plan with much higher payments & deductibles for the procedure as well as doctors visits, medications and follow ups. These higher costs surpass my current budget, and when I am out of work in recovery, it will definitely not be feasible for me to cover everything myself. While recovering, I will also need to pay for food, keep my housing secured, and keep up with the various costs that accompany recovery from a major operation.
I would not be asking for help if I thought there was a way to fund this myself. The reality is, I can’t pay for this surgery and recovery period alone.
I am so blessed to be surrounded by generous, kind people who are open to helping me. If I don’t know you personally, I thank you beyond words for your help. Whether or not you can donate, I appreciate your taking the time to read this. Please share with others if you can.
All my love and gratitude. xx
