Irene Yesenia Gomez's medical treatment

Hello everyone, my name is Yohander Gómez and I have created this Gofund me to ask for your help for my aunt Irene Yesenia Gómez.

My aunt was recently diagnosed with Guillen Barre syndrome, which is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the immune system damages neurons and causes muscle weakness and sometimes debilitating paralysis. Unfortunately, my aunt recently deteriorated dramatically and is now hospitalized in critical condition at the ICU at Antonio María Pineda central hospital in Barquisimeto- Venezuela .

She has 5% Immunoglobulin as treatment, which requires 4 doses daily for 5 days, for a total of 20 treatments. This medication has an estimated cost of $340 dollars per vial (which means her treatment will cost almost $7,000). My family does not have the financial resources necessary to pay for this essential treatment and additionally there are other medication expenses / resources that the hospital requires. These include anti-mite mattress, intravenous solutions, macro-drippers and syringes to be able to apply the treatment.

Unfortunately, the situation in Venezuela with regard to medical treatment is not well funded. In most cases, families and patients need to resource their own medication or pay for it directly as there is no public health insurance, like most western countries.

It is necessary to have the complete treatment so that the doctors can begin to apply it, since this would be much more effective for her and her speedy recovery.

I would greatly appreciate any support at all through donations that you may be able to afford to help my family in this particularly difficult time. My family are so close and never would want to burden anyone and never ask for financial support. I, Yohander Gómez, as her nephew will the person in charge of helping my family from Dublin, Ireland, where I live. It's so difficult being so far away from my family and my aunt at this very critical time, so I want to do everything I can to try help and support them by collecting donations.

Hola a todos, mi nombre es Yohander Gómez y he creado este Gofund me para pedir de su contribucion para mi tía Irene Yesenia Gómez.

A mi tía recientemente le diagnosticaron con el síndrome de Guillén Barré, que es un trastorno autoinmune poco común en el que el sistema inmunológico daña las neuronas y causa debilidad muscular y, a veces, parálisis debilitante. Desafortunadamente, mi tía recientemente se deterioró dramáticamente y ahora se encuentra hospitalizada en estado crítico en la UCI del hospital central Antonio María Pineda en Barquisimeto- Venezuela .

Tiene como tratamiento Inmunoglobulina al 5%, el cual requiere 4 dosis diarias durante 5 días, para un total de 20 tratamientos. Este medicamento tiene un costo estimado de $340 dólares por vial (lo que significa que su tratamiento costará casi $7,000). Mi familia no cuenta con los recursos económicos necesarios para pagar este tratamiento esencial y adicionalmente existen otros gastos/recursos de medicamentos que requiere el hospital. Entre ellos se incluyen colchón antiácaros, soluciones intravenosas, macrogoteros y jeringas para poder aplicar el tratamiento.

Lamentablemente, la situación en Venezuela con respecto al tratamiento médico no está bien financiada. En la mayoría de los casos, las familias y los pacientes necesitan conseguir sus propios medicamentos o pagarlos directamente, ya que no existe un seguro médico público, como en la mayoría de los países occidentales.Es necesario tener el tratamiento completo para que los médicos comiencen a aplicarlo, ya que esto sería mucho más efectivo para ella y su pronta recuperación.

Agradecería mucho cualquier apoyo a través de donaciones que pueda realizar para ayudar a mi familia en este momento particularmente difícil. Mi familia es muy unida y nunca querría ser una carga para nadie ni pedir apoyo financiero.
