THE IPHIGENIAMACHINE
by Mackenzie Robin Krestul
Directed by Harrison Campbell
This dissection of the classic Iphigenia at Aulis takes places in a technofeudal, post-apocalyptic ice age. There, amidst the unfamiliar rubble of her life, a nameless girl searches for her identity and freedom from her father's war machine. After the traditions of Magda Romanska and Heiner Müller, THE IPHIGENIAMACHINE dismantles the original mythology to expose a perilous underbelly of atrocity, complacency, and glorified masculinity.
Performs May 12th - 17th at American Theater of Actors' Beckmann Theater
NOTE FROM THE PRODUCERS -
Making theatre has always been an uphill climb, but lately, it has become near insurmountable. Costs are through the roof on every element of the work, and too often that means talented designers and actors are paid far less than they should be, or not at all.
We’re lucky. Our production is funded thanks to a generous grant from the Pratt Institute, meaning our show is happening no matter what. But we’d like to support the people behind the scenes as best we can and compensate their time, energy, and hard work in putting together what will be an incredibly ambitious piece for us.
So we’re asking for help.
We’ve put together a GoFundMe, and every cent raised will be paid directly to the artists who’ve been building this with us and helping bring new work by living playwrights to life.
If you’re in a position to give, it would mean the world to us. Every donor will receive a special thanks in our program.
Thank you to everyone who has engaged with our production, whether out of interest or curiosity or support. We can’t wait to see you in May.
❤️ Harrison and Mackenzie
