On behalf of the Block Ohana and especially sweet Iokua (io) and Hā’ena (‘ena) I humbly ask for your support. Iokua and Hā’ena both suffer from under developed airway Malacia which causes their airways to collapse at night including obstructive sleep apnea and severe sleep disordered breathing. No one knows sleeplessness like this family. They are going on year 4! of chronic sleep deprivation. They have struggled silently and done all they can for the last 3 years both in Hawaii and the Mainland. Iokua has undergone three surgeries to date and countless procedures, Hā’ena is sadly right behind him. The family has finally been willing to humbly ask for their community and villages support as they soon embark on another mainland medical trip to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Complex Esophageal Airway Center. It took a lot to get to this point but the family has hope that they will finally find the answers and hopefully the solutions they need. Both children will undergo Comprehensive Scopes and Airway Evaluations with possible serious Surgical recommendations. They leave for Florida on 1/18/23 and need our help with the expenses that are sure to follow. Please join me in supporting one of the sweetest and most generous families I know.
