Invest in Ayah Sol's Education
"The mission and values at Village Leadership Academy align perfectly with Ayah's spirit." -Iyawo Sona Smith, Ayah's Mom
Ayah Sol Masai Hall. Her name means evidence of God's greatness. At 5 years old she is truth personified, the Sol of her family and community, standing on the shoulders of her ancestors to accomplish great works for our world.
This Fall Ayah was tested and placed into 1st grade at Village Leadership Academy, reading on a 3rd grade level. Daily Ayah is learning new literacy, social justice math vocabulary that she consciously works to apply into her everyday life.
In addition to her academic development, Village Leadership Academy aligns with Ayah's spirit of activism through its social justice cirriculum and grassroots campaign (GRC) projects. Each school year VLA, takes K-8 students through a year-long project (GRC campaign) where they learn how to address problems within their community by engaging local allies and legislative leaders to organize community events and fundraising efforts that bring awareness to or solve their chosen issue.
Here is what one of Ayah's most passionate supporters' has to say about her character and progress at VLA so far:
"She is really smart, full of life, always listening and helping others, she adds so much to our classroom. It is beautiful to see that she comes from a home with African-centered values. [Ayah's contributions] to our class discussions make Africa normal and even popularized among students who are not familiar with the continent. I appreciate the energy she brings to our class. " -Ms. Brakwa, Ayah's 1st Grade teacher, VLA
To continue her educational journey at Village Leadership Academy, Ayah needs funding for the cost of tuition. As a village, on behalf of Ayah and her family, I am asking that you #investinayah.
