Since losing our beautiful daughter, Kelly, in March 2024, our family has worked tirelessly to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death. More than two and a half years later, that work continues through independent forensic examinations, legal representation and engagement with authorities on both sides of the border.

The Katie Trust has played a pivotal role in advocating for Kelly and our family. Its continued intervention and support have helped establish vital communication with the Irish authorities, enabling meetings and discussions that have advanced our campaign. We remain profoundly grateful for its commitment to transparency, accountability and thorough investigations into unexplained deaths.

Donations to our GoFundMe have helped fund legal services, independent experts, meetings and travel to Dublin, Belfast and Dundalk. We have also retained part of the funds raised for the anticipated inquest. Without this support, much of the progress made so far would have been far more difficult.

We are now approaching a significant turning point. Following recent discussions with An Garda Síochána, the Gardaí, our legal team and The Katie Trust are actively pursuing a jury inquest in 2027. The final decision and arrangements remain with the Coroner, but we must prepare for the legal and forensic support our family may need.

Anticipated costs include solicitor and barrister fees, further independent forensic examinations, specialist reports and expert witnesses. Some professionals assisting us are based outside Ireland, creating additional expenses for international flights, accommodation and travel. We are also discussing an independent examination by specialist forensic audio experts of a voicemail Kelly left in the early hours of 16 March 2024, shortly before she disappeared. This highly specialised work is expected to involve significant expense.

Although we do not yet have a final estimate, the financial demands ahead could be considerable. Further donations will help ensure that relevant evidence is thoroughly examined, independent findings are properly presented and our family is adequately represented.

Our aim is not to secure a particular verdict, but to ensure that Kelly’s death is examined through a fair, thorough and transparent process. No family should have to depend on public generosity to pursue answers about the death of their child, yet that generosity has made it possible for us to continue seeking the truth.

We cannot bring our daughter home, but we can continue working to ensure that her death is examined with the care, diligence and accountability that every life deserves.
