On 10/11/2025, Cats Protection invited me and my Fiancé to hang out with the cats and learn all about their Charity (Watch the video/s HERE and HERE ). I'm sure it will come as no surprise, that we ended up falling for some of the cats and felt it was time to add a fur-baby to our first home.

Pumpkin ended up being the purrr-fect fit for our home, so on 26/10/2025 we drove allll the way back to pick her up. We couldn't stop thinking about her (Watch the video HERE )!

Pumpkin, now Maelle (from Expedition 33, of course!), was found abandoned in a church with her sister Patch (they were not bonded). Cats Protection took them both in. Maelle had some dental work done, and was spayed (they found an early pregnancy, which was terminated at the same time), vaccinated, wormed and flea treated. They tested her for FIV and FeLV, both coming back as negative. Did you know Cats Protection only charge a £85 rehoming fee? Which is incredible, when all of this was included.

During her check-ups, they discovered a 2/6 heart murmur. Though this is currently not too much of a concern (heart murmurs are very common in cats these days), it is something that our vet suggested we investigate, as there is likely an underlying cause that may need treatment and can help her live a long and happy life with us.

Cats from Cats Protection do come with 4 weeks free pet insurance, but it does not cover existing conditions found pre-adoption. We also currently cannot get her insured, without having a full diagnosis.

We had anticipated many fees, but this was not one of them. So if you'd like to support us in figuring out what is causing Maelles heart murmur, I have set up this page (at your request)! There's no pressure to support, but it would be so helpful, and could help get her diagnosis sooner.
