ERASE Racism is a civil rights organization based on Long Island that exposes and addresses the devastating impact of historical and ongoing structural racism.

We have organized local and state coalitions to fight for racial justice, educated thousands with fact-based history about structural racism, worked with local and state officials to advocate for changes to laws that allow housing discrimination, won lawsuits against rental owners who discriminate against perspective Black/African Americans seeking apartments, and have spoken out on numerous civil rights crises, including intervening when poor communities of color are negatively impacted by external circumstances such as Superstorm Sandy and the COVID 19 Pandemic. Addressing structural racism and advancing equity has never been without resistance however new federal policies, executive orders, and recent court decisions threaten to not only roll back progress but to rewrite history and undermine our organizational work. The current climate has made it more challenging to garner the financial support needed to develop our next generation of civil rights leaders. We are turning to you, our community. We seek assistance raising funds to support this year’s student internship.

ERASE Racism’s Digital Activism Summer Internship will focus on increasing ERASE Racism’s social media presence and impact visibility. Students will be provided with the unique opportunity to learn about the creative intersection between advocacy and digital media communications. The innovative digital strategies of young people today, combined with the organization’s longstanding civil rights legacy will foster the perfect environment for intergenerational activism to flourish.
