Jesus Cartagena Jr's Humanitarian Services Education Fund
My name is Jesus Cartagena Jr. I committed actions in my past that caused irrevocable harm. I fully acknowledge the suffering I caused - there is no excuse for what I did. Through restorative justice, I learned that accountability requires more than words. It demands sustained action, personal responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to service.
Accomplishments:
I grounded everything I accomplished during my incarceration in this philosophy. During my incarceration I earned:
- An Associate's of Applied Science
- A Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies
- A certificate in Christian Studies through a 2- year prison seminary degree
- NUMEROUS Cognitive and Behavioral Health certificates.
Purpose:
I did none of this for personal gain. I did it to prepare myself to serve others, especially those affected by trauma, conflict, and systemic injustice. I do not make this request for luxury or comfort. I make it as an investment in accountability, rehabilitation, and transformation.

Redemption Through Education:
I have gained acceptance into the Master's program in "Humanitarian Action and Human Rights" at Liberty University. With sufficient tuition support, I will complete this degree within one year.
Educational Funding Goals:
- $10,000 to complete my Master's Degree (I need approximately $3,200 to begin my first semester).
- $75,000 to pursue a future PhD in Humanitarian Services ( I have already spoken with multiple Doctoral programs that will consider my application after I complete my Master's degree.
- ALL FUNDS WILL BE USED EXCLUSIVELY FOR EDUCATION RELATED TO HUMANITARIAN SERVICES
Lifelong service:
Incarceration restricts my ability to earn income (or qualify for student loans) but I refuse to let it define my future. I choose education as my path to meaningful contribution, lifelong service, and responsible repair. Your support will not erase my past but it will help ensure that I dedicate the rest of my life to serving others and contributing positively to society.
