Hi. I'm a single mom of 8. One foster child, seven bio. My daughter Monaea Upton, "Class of 2021" just graduated from Mpls North Highschool. With high honors and was on the "A" Honor roll. She received many awards. Including a trophy for Choreography. It hadn't been awarded since 1997. Our city, Mpls was in an uproar behind social injustice, looting, covid-19. Mo continued serving her community. Volunteering, tutoring, performing etc. She's a jr Youngelife leader, Intern at the Hennepin Cnty Atty's ofc, member of Mpls Known choir, 4 yr. Varsity cheerleader, dancer/inst for UDC & Melanin Movement-my community team she helped create/run, Journey prod etc. All while grieving over her murdered peers & the loss of her God brother. He died days before Christmas. Then in Feb. 2021, just 7wks later a close and dear cousin perished in our home. Our family was devastated. Mo & her God brother had dreams of escorting eachother to their senior proms & throwing their grad party together. Distraught but not distracted. Monaea went to prom alone. Left, competed in a dance comp. Then returned to prom for the last hr. We later learned that she won 3 medals & the Judges Choice award. She kept her head up and her grades. Mo was accepted to many colleges. One of them was Spelman. Where she aspires to major in Political Science. Sadly Spelman did not offer her a scholarship. After applying for financial aid we are responsible for fifty percent of her tuition, room & board. This is our last resort. The Deadline is in days‼️ Please give to this great cause.
