An Excerpt from the Book

Chapter 1: Getting to know me :

My name is Amado. At the time of this book being written, I am 15 years old, 5’9 and 159 pounds and doing on line schooling (and NOT online hockey) during a Global pandemic. The only way I am dropping out of high school is:

a) an early draft to the NHL

b) a walk on cameo in the next Fast and Furious movie

c) a Zombie apocalypse

d) a Global pandemic (strike this, for obvious reasons)

I can be very random at times. It’s weird explaining myself, especially out loud, because I’m too lazy to write all my feelings down. Speaking this book into existence was harder than I expected. Don’t judge me!

I live with both my parents. I am the eldest of three siblings. I have one older half-brother on my dad’s side. I have a passion for hockey and I’m an absolute snipe show, a hidden gem among the 2023 NHL draft class. My parents moved a lot and we also lived with my grandparents for a year so, I’ve attended two public high-schools and four public elementary schools (including two Catholic schools) throughout Toronto. Hence, I have varied experiences of schooling BUT was never expelled (I knew what you were thinking). I don't talk a lot so my mom convinced me to write my thoughts down and we decided to make it a book...to help other kids, especially the ones not really engaged in "our" education system. I'm turning 16 in a week and because of Covid I didn't get a job like I had planned, so my job is finishing this book, doing a photo shoot, having a huge launch party with all my sports mentors and really making something of myself. The only things stopping me are:

a) My Narcolepsy (have you seen Seinfeld? Yes, I can go into a deep sleep on demand. It's not glamorous)

b) My mom's busy schedule (she's my scribe and I hold her to capture my authentic voice or I threaten to quit. Lol)

c) The funds (that's where you all come in. My goal is to raise money to get this out to as many kids as possible for FREE
